île de france serves authentic French cuisine that is both hearty and delicious, cooked by our French Chef Gilles Papst from the Alsace region of France. He serves it just as it should be, and just as you would eat in traditional France.
Our opening hours are:
Monday-Saturday ~ 5.00pm until late
Friday lunch ~ 11.30am until 3.00pm
BYO on Mondays and Tuesdays

Bonjour, je m'appele Gilles Papst, Chef at île de france
I come from Strasbourg, in Alsace in the north-east region of France. My grandfather was a chef and I continue in his footsteps. Cooking is an art, instead of using paints and brushes, I am using a wooden spoon and spices!
After 6 years in New Zealand, I have this wonderful opportunity to open île de france, a French restaurant in Newmarket, Auckland. My dream has become a reality.
Our dishes are inspired by the four corners of France, with the accent on the south-western region such as snails, duck liver pate, traditional red wine braised cheeks, duck leg confit, famous rib-eye béarnaise sauce, and ever-changing Chef's special's reflecting fresh market produce. île de france also offers a wide range of French-style breads – baguettes, bread figues, and sourdough – that come from our bakery, La Voix Francaise.
From our wine list, we take you on a little Tour de France with an extensive wine list bringing different flavours from the regions of Bourgogne, Alsace, Bordeaux, Loire, or Rhone. Dishes are crafted to match our wines.
From our dessert menu we would recommend our cheese selection – gruyere, goat blue basque, gallet, rustique, and more.
